Skagway to Whitehorse

Skagway

Climbing the White Pass

...3300-foot climb in 26 km... it took a while.
...then briefly back into BC before crossing 60 into the Yukon...

...and clearer skies...

...and gorgeous views to Carcross where we camped for the night...

...across the road from a lake where this sandpiper was happy enough to be photographed
Underway again the next day...

...and into Whitehorse for a day of rest, and laundry etc.

and this is how they got around a little over a hundred years ago when the gold rush was on...
...and stern-wheeler like the "Klondike" which is preserved in Whitehorse


Many of these boats didn't make it through this canyon before
the water levels were raised when a hydro dam was put in
